Petit Planet Cooking and Recipe List
Cooking is how farming and gathering turn into usable Strength. Recipes unlock by station and by ingredient quality, and the highest-value dishes are the ones you can actually keep making.

How cooking unlocks and which stations exist
Cooking opens early because it is the only way to convert a full pantry back into a full Strength bar. The cooking pot is the first station and the one you will use most: soups, porridges, teas, and seafood dishes all come from it. The juicer follows in the opening days and turns fruit into drinks, which matters because raw fruit restores very little on its own.
The oven arrives on day three at the test pace and adds grilled and baked dishes, including the signature recipes that unlock at cooking level 5. The kitchen station handles the rest. Each station has its own recipe list, so a dish you remember from a guide may simply not be available until the matching station unlocks.
Ingredients come from the three gathering routes plus farming: fish and seafood from the water, mushrooms from wet weather, vegetables and grains from your plots, fruit from trees and bushes, and flowers from cross-breeding. If a recipe calls for a purple or gold ingredient, the ingredient itself has to be grown or caught at that grade — cooking does not upgrade what you put in.
The three quality tiers
Every cooked dish lands in one of three tiers, and the tier is set by the ingredients rather than by the recipe. A green dish uses ordinary ingredients. A purple dish needs at least one purple-grade ingredient — without one, the recipe simply will not produce the purple version. Gold works the same way, and the gold ingredient is usually the hard part.
Restoration scales with tier. In the Final Beta, community recipe charts list dishes from roughly +30 up to +140 Strength, with the signature list running +40 to +140. That range is why a fish caught at common grade is worth less than the same fish at purple grade: cooked, it restores two or three times as much.
A caveat on numbers: a recipe table quoting flat values of 50 and 100 per dish circulated during an earlier test build. Those figures do not match the Final Beta charts and are not used here. If you are checking a value in game, the dish description is the source, not a guide written during a previous test.
Recipe difficulty and ingredient shorthand
Recipes are also sorted by difficulty, and the tier tells you what it costs to obtain them. Simple dishes carry the early game: cheap inputs, no unlock beyond the station. Signature dishes are the mid-game workhorses and the largest group — community charts counted 33 of them in the Final Beta. Banquet dishes (14 counted) are the multi-ingredient showpieces. Secret dishes are the smallest group at eight, and they cannot be learned by discovery: a Neighbor has to give you the recipe, so a Secret dish you have read about may be uncraftable until that Neighbor's bond is high enough.
Recipe text uses shorthand that trips up new players, and the shorthand is stricter than it reads:
| Chart term | What it actually means |
|---|---|
| Freshwater fish | River fish — anything caught inland, not sea fish |
| Seafood | Coast creatures gathered on the beach, not fish you reel in |
| Shrimp | Shrimp only; a crab or lobster does not substitute |
| Yellow fruit | Pineapple and mango |
| Red fruit | Apple, plum, and strawberry |
| Green fruit | Melon |
| Grain / rice | Rice, wheat, and corn; "rice" means paddy rice specifically |
Three further rules cover most failed crafts. Assorted-series recipes only work after you switch the station to free cooking, where you place ingredients yourself instead of picking a listed recipe. Eggs, meat, and milk are not gathered — they are bought from Glenn's shop. And the Miracle Feast dish is not a recipe at all: it appears at random while you cook normally.
Grade shortcuts matter here too. Harpeno's Secret dish calls for purple-grade meat, and a purple seafood item satisfies the slot — which is usually easier to obtain than a purple cut of meat. Manna, meanwhile, is documented with three recipes that are all dumplings in different colours, so a "missing" recipe in that set is probably a colour you have not unlocked.
Starter recipes worth knowing
These are the pot recipes that appear in every community list, grouped by what they consume. Names are descriptive rather than official, since the English build's dish names were not published during the test.
| Dish | Ingredients | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Flower tea | 2 flowers | Flowers are pickable on the roadside; the cheapest early refill |
| Fruit tea | 2 fruit | Turns a 15-Strength raw fruit into a real meal |
| Fish soup | 2 fish | Best early Dough dish when sold; fast to gather |
| Stir-fried greens | 2 vegetables | Simple farm input; can roll the nine-plot watering buff |
| Grain porridge | 2 grains | Cheap bulk refill once wheat is growing |
| Seafood hotpot | Fish + seafood | Uses both fishing and beachcombing output |
| Fish hand roll | 2 sea fish | Sea fish are faster to catch than river fish |
| Mushroom fish soup | Mushroom + fish | Mushrooms multiply in rain |
| Steamed fish rice | Grain + river fish | River-specific; combines two farms |
| Mushroom soup | 2 mushrooms | No farm needed at all |
The purple tier adds the high-value seafood line: steamed seafood, crab with fish, shrimp soup, and seafood porridge with rice. These are the dishes that make a coastal morning worthwhile, and several of them restore at the top of the range.
Which recipes are most Strength-efficient
Efficiency here means Strength restored per minute of gathering, not per ingredient. Three rules cover almost every case:
- Two-ingredient dishes beat one-ingredient dishes. A fish soup made from two fish restores more than eating the fish, and a mixed dish generally beats a single-input one at the same tier.
- Cheap and repeatable beats expensive and rare. The Final Beta charts single out a Hexia fruit rice brew and a mixed vegetable juice at +50 with easy materials, which is the practical daily refill. A +140 gold dish is a special-occasion meal, not a Tuesday lunch.
- Match the dish to the trip. A short farm session needs one +30 dish. A full voyage needs a stack, and the voyage guide explains why running out mid-trip wastes a Star Anchor.
Hidden buffs and how they roll
Some dishes carry a temporary buff on top of the Strength restore, and the buff is not guaranteed — it has a chance to appear when the dish is made. Three were specifically called out during the test:
- A berry rice brew that speeds up tilling.
- Stir-fried greens that let a single watering and fertilizing action cover nine plots, which is the closest thing the game has to farming automation.
- A baked rice pudding that makes a single chop drop the full yield of a tree, which is a strong early resource buff when lumber is scarce.
Because buffs are probabilistic, the way to use them is to cook in batches before a session you care about rather than to cook one dish and hope. The buffs also expire quickly — testers complained that buff duration was short and that eating a second dish did not stack the effect, so a buff is a burst, not a standing bonus.
Batch cooking and mastery
Cooking the same recipe repeatedly builds recipe mastery, which improves the dish. The catch is the daily ceiling: mastery rises by at most five points per recipe per day. Cooking twenty fish soups in one sitting does not give twenty times the progress.
That single rule shapes the best cooking routine. Rotate two or three recipes across the week rather than grinding one, and let each one hit its daily five. The player who spreads mastery ends the week with three strong recipes; the player who grinds one ends with one strong recipe and two weak ones.
Batch cooking is still worth doing for volume — a stack of dishes is your travel ration — but mastery is a separate, slower track that rewards variety.
Which dishes are Neighbor favorites
A dish a Neighbor loves is worth more as a gift than as food. The confirmed favorites among the documented Neighbors include a bamboo apple slushie for Yunguo, a fruit pie for Frostia, cloud cookies for Medowlyn, grilled mushrooms for Rebella, a yogurt dessert for Nerina, and a stew for Harpeno.
Cooking one extra portion of a Neighbor's favorite dish before a gift round is a better use of ingredients than selling it. The gift guide lists every confirmed favorite, and the farming guide covers growing the fruit and vegetables those recipes need.
